Day 19 - August 23, 2018
"The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly."
Anonymous
Many people, if asked what superpower they wanted to have, would probably say the ability to fly or levitate. It is amusing that birds can really fly and soar into the sky. I, myself, would like to fly and see the world in a new perspective, in the “bird’s eyeview”. If that happens, maybe we will find peace up there, maybe I will enjoy what I see, maybe it is more beautiful, maybe…
Expounding the lesson
My class in EP3 was a challenge for me. The topic was only about Push and Pull but I had to stretch it for two hours. It is very hard especially when the students are younger because they have very short attention span and I had to divert their attentions from time to time in order to maintain a good classroom management. One thing I observed in the primary education in Thailand is that their curriculum is very simple. The classroom discussions should focus more on student-centered activities and engaging strategies that should be diverted from time to time. As for my class, I asked them to answer some questions about the previous lesson. Then I asked questions about the introduction of my new topic. I did traditional lecture first before I went to some activities. For the activities, I asked them to do some basic movements involving Push and Pull. For my concluding my activity, the class played a game using a ball and they have to use their psychomotor skills in kicking (pushing) the ball towards the end of the room.
Boot Camp Dinner
We were again invited to join the dinner of the Boot Camp. I remember being there last time on our first night in Nakhon Si Thammarat where we introduced ourselves to the participants. The Boot Camp focused on language seminars and lectures. We were even luckier when we watched the President to play drums for us. It was really cool and amazing.
